Olivehain is an area within the town of Encinitas on the eastern edge bordering Rancho Santa Fe, and a small portion of Carlsbad.

The main shopping area of Olivenhain is centered around the intersection of Encinitas Boulevard and Rancho Santa Fe Road, which cuts through the heart of town. The largest shopping area is the West Village Shopping Center with a host of stores and services. Local restaurants include The Pancake House and the upscale Firenze Trattoria, with plenty of restaurants a few miles away in the El Camino Real corridor of Encinitas. High end dining is found in Ranch Santa Fe village. Major grocery stores and other large stores in Encinitas include Home Depot, Target, Office Depot, and Best Buy.

Children in Olivenhain attend the Olivenhain Pioneer Elementary School, through the 6th grade. After that they attend the Encinitas Schools. A private coeducational school in the heart of town, The Rhoades School, meets children's needs through grade 8. There is also a Montessori School and a Head Start Program.

Because of the lot sizes (often 1 acre and larger) and location, real estate for sale in Olivenhain Encinitas CA is more expensive than in other areas of Encinitas, and you won't find much for sale under $1 million. Olivenhain Encinitas realty consists primarily of detached homes with a few attached/condos, and a wide range of home styles, including Spanish, Mediterranean, traditional and contemporary; some new construction is available but this is mostly custom-built.
